Workspace filling screen

Is there any way, when opening a new workspace, as, for example when Accordance is started, to prevent it from filling the entire screen?

  You can re-size the workspace then go to Settings (macOS Ventura or later) or Preferences (macOS Monterrey or earlier) on the Accordance menu (Mac) or the Edit menu (Windows) then go to General. Under Startup, choose Default Session, then click Set Default Session.

  Funny, it seemed to work yesterday but when I opened up Accordance today it was back at full screen. Now it will not remember the startup screen setting but goes back to full screen.
