Example of how AI could be incorporated into Accordance
There have been many posts here regarding suggestions for incorporating AI into Accordance. AI incorporation is already underway in Logos, and I understand Accordance is seeking input as you consider how it might be utilized. Here is an example of something I needed to do today and how it might function in Accordance as an enhanced search feature. I could pose this question with additional parameters, but will keep it basic.
Today I needed to load a panel in Accordance with all of the scripture passages pertaining to Jesus’ baptism. In it’s current form, as far as I know, I would need to type in all of these scripture passages, separated by a semi-colon or comma. I cannot ask Accordance to do this for me. It will give me an error message if I try. However, if I type this phrase into an AI search engine, it will list the scripture references separated by commas.
“Show me all scripture references that contain gospel accounts of Jesus' baptism”
The search engine then returns this answer:
Matthew 3:13-17, Mark 1:9-11, Luke 3:21-22, and John 1:29-34
I can then copy and paste this into my Accordance 14 search box and it will open all of them in a window in my displayed Bible translation.
What if Accordance could do this? What if there is an option for an AI search where I could type the abovementioned search request and it would open the passages? Without ever leaving Accordance in order to use an AI search.
I think this would be incredibly helpful, efficient and effective.
Thanks so much for considering!

I use MCP server to Connect Claude with different apps on my computer. It is probably the most flexible and easiest way forward to develop a bridge to use with an AI of choice to work with Accordance.

What is an MCP server? I have Claude, and would like to implement it if I can

According to Claude
"An MCP Server (Model Context Protocol Server) is a program that exposes tools, data, and capabilities to an AI model like Claude in a standardized way.
Think of it as a bridge: Claude can't directly access your files, calendar, databases, or external services on its own — but an MCP server sits in between and gives Claude a defined set of actions it can call."0 -
But I do believe integrating Natural Language search in Accordance would be totally awesome.

Check & see if ChatGPT will do this already.

If you want to try it out, I built an MCP for Accordance, it's on GitHub.
https://github.com/bodiequirk/accordance-mcp-server
It's pretty cool to be able to pull up different verses and things like that, but it doesn't research tools, which is sort of my original goal for it. I wanted to check over here to see what the conversation was about Accordance MCP, but it doesn't seem like it's happened quite yet.
My dream would be to be able to access all of my tools and text in accordance with Claude. Right now, I can get all the Bible texts, but I can't get any of the tools, and I would love to be able to do that. When I built the MCP, it was blocked at tools because of copyright.
I would love for there to be a way for Accordance to verify the purchase history of tools and then allow me access through the MCP. That'd be amazing.0 -
Can you explain what MCP is? I would comment, not to throw cold water on your suggestion, that I have found ChatGPT incredibly good for Bible study, like quoting a verse in Hebrew and asking what it means, digging into the grammar, etc. Also good for a theology discussion. Re the above, I am wondering what “natural language search” means. Are there natural vs unnatural (artificial?) languages? Or is the search natural vs oddball?

Thanks Bodie for sharing :-) I've contacted Accordance concerning AI and the way forward, also the MCP option for integration, but I've not got any definitive answer. Would be gr8 if someone from the Accordance staff could comment on these feature requests.
