Possible solution to manpower shortage
Hello Accordance.
The Android App has not been updated for quite awhile. Current issues are:
- Doesn't sync with PC or Dropbox (due to old Dropbox SDK version that has not been upgraded)
- Does not appear in Play store
- No way to view or edit user notes
- Greek/Hebrew text do not automatically link to the English text, has to be manually switched
- HMT causes crashes
- Crashes which require reinstalls
- Highlight names get truncated to their first letter
- Themes do not sync
My understanding is that Accordance runs on a tighter budget and thus hiring additional programmers would be an issue. Furthermore Accordance wants to keep their code proprietary and so going open source will not be possible.
Yesterday I installed Codex from OpenAi (not Chatgpt) and got it to unpack the .APK file and rewrite certain portions of it on Android Studio via ADB, to address some of the issues I mentioned above. It did so under an hour with only a small bit of human steering. And then it repackaged the .APK and gave me a usable, almost up to par with what I expect from the app version of the Accordance Bible app. (apart from the Hebrew downloaded modules, because that's server side and I have no control over that)
To address your situation of limited manpower, I propose that one of your programmers could start looking into using AI agents to help work alongside him. This would speed up most of your workflows and help you push out a working product.
I love using Accordance on PC, however the incompatibility with Android is a huge issue as I am limited to features that causes me to question myself why not just use BLB or ESword. And I am sure many Android users share the same sentiment as me.
In the community out there, what I hear is "Logos is for Android, Accordance is for iPhone". The Android community is huge. There is a lot on the plate you are missing out if you do not cater to these users.
So please look into using AI agents such as Codex or OpenClaw. It costs about $20 a month. With one agent, you can orchestrate a team of sub agents to do the work and ship it out even while you sleep.
If you ever need help with setting up agents just let me know through email or whatever, I'm happy to help for free. All I want is to be able to use an app that I paid for.
Thanks,
Gabe
