Bug: Footnotes in NIV (2011) display at 'a' repeatedly
Issue: Footnotes reference in the NIV display as ‘a’ repeatedly rather than a-z
Reproduction rate: 100%
Occurs on: Android version 2.2.3 (13728), Windows 14.1.2 with Prod ID: NIV11-GKE
Reproduction steps:
- Open Accordance on Android
- Go to Matthew 11 in the NIV New International Version 2011 with G/K Numbers and Phrase Tagging (Prod ID: NIV11-GKE)
- Open a parallel pane with the NIV (2011) Notes
- Scroll through Matthew 11 to Matthew 11:11
- Observe the footnotes lettering
Result: The footnotes lettering repeats 'a' across multiple verses.
Expected result: The footnotes should utilise a to z across multiple verses.

I don’t think this is a bug but rather an unfortunate consequence of the way two different note categories/systems are being handled. (Which itself may be a decision by the publisher of the NIV (2011), and not Accordance). Here is a screenshot from my iPad:

Take a look at Matthew 11:10 in the NIV11-GKE text: after the second line, there is a “normal type” a footnote marker; after the second line there is both an italicized a and a normal type b footnote markers.
The “normal type” footnote markers are for the NIV11s cross reference system. The italicized notes are for all other translator notes, in this case, offering an alternative translation for the phrase in question.
In your screen shot, this is harder to recognize, because what should be the italicized and superscripted a at the end of the verse is neither…it just looks like a stray a at the end of the verse.
I’m guessing that in print copies of the NIV11, these two not systems are more visually separate on the page….but I can’t verify that as I don’t have a print copy of the NIV11.

Hi Lorinda,
Thanks for your reply. I noticed the issue doesn't occur with the same Bible using Olive Tree Bible app on Windows (Version: 7.18.4.0).
