Greek Vocab search CONFUSION!!
I am trying to learn how many more Greek vocab words (of those appearing 30x or more in the NT) I would need to memorize in addition to those I am already memorizing for the Thessalonians epistles if I also learned those in Revelation.
I know this is a very specific goal, but my question is really about understanding the search features correctly.
In order to find this out I did the following (I'm using the NA28 Greek NT module in all tabs):
1) In Tab “1”, I entered [COUNT 30–19680] (the odd number is to exclude the article which appears 19681 times). This gives me 468 different forms.
2) In Tab “2”, I enter [RANGE 1 Thessalonians-2 Thessalonians][HIT 1] to give me all the words appearing 30 or more times in the NT that show up in 1–2 Thessalonians. This gives me 231 forms.
3) In Tab “3”, I enter [RANGE Revelation][HIT 1] to give me all the words appearing 30 or more times in the NT that show up in Revelation. This gives me 337 forms.
4) In Tab “4”, I enter [RANGE Revelation][HIT 1] @-[HIT 2] to give me all the words in Revelation appearing more than 30 times in the NT excluding those words in 1-2 Thessalonians appearing more than 30 times in the NT. This gives me 153 forms.
Now I have an exact list of lexemes (30+ in the NT) for Revelation that I would need in addition to those I'm already learning for 1-2 Thessalonians. I need to learn 153 additional lexical forms.
THE QUESTION…. Why 153 and not 106?? Should not the amount of additional forms I need to learn be the difference between word forms (<30x) in Revelation and those 1-2 Thessalonians (<30x)?
I feel like I am making an obvious mistake, but I can't figure it out. Any help would be appreciated.
