    using the andersen-forbes data base:

    tab one –  [VERB (piel, nifal)]
    tab two -  [HITS Hebrew Bible (Andersen-Forbes)] @[VERB -(safal, qal, passQal, pual, hifil, hofal, hitpael, tafal, afal, itpael)]

    If I understand the HITS command, tab two should search all of the hits of tab one (Niphal, Piel verbs) and find those that do not occur in the negated stems. It should then return only verbs occuring in the Niphal and Piel. But the results do not reflect that as they should (ex. רחף) in Gen 1.2 occurs in Qal and Piel. So unless I am missing something, this appears to be a bug. Am I understanding the HITS command correctly?

    Using the Hebrew Bible Tagged (HMT-W4)

    tab one-[VERB piel]

    tab two-[HITS Hebrew Bible Tagged (Leningrad Codex)] @ [VERB nifal]

    tab three-  [HITS Hebrew Bible Tagged (Leningrad Codex) 2] @ [VERB -(hitpoel, qal, pual, hitpael, hifil, hofal, passiveQal, palel, Hpealal, pilel, pilpel, polel, poel, tifil, polal, polpal, pulal, poal, hotpaal, hitpolel, hitpalpel, hishtafel, nitpael, nitpalpel, nitpoel)]

    Here are the results of the search:

    the verbs  קדש and ברך occur in stems other than piel and niphal. So the HITS command is not eliminating verbs with only Niphal or Piel stems.

    My mistake — the suggested HITS command will only find individual verses where the verbs are not used in the negated stems, essentially giving you the same results. I do not find a way to discover verbs that exist in only two stems.

    I think I figured out how to finally run this search and remove the false hits.

    tab one- [VERB (passiveHifal, qal, hifil, pual, hitpael, hofal, passiveQal, palel, Hpealal, pilel, pilpel, polel, poel, tifil, polal, polpal, pulal, poal, hotpaal, hitpolel, hitpalpel, hishtafel, nitpael, nitpalpel, nitpoel, hitpoel, Bqal, Bpiel, Bnifal, Bhitpael, BpassivePiel, passivePiel, hithpaal,hithpeel,hithpolel, hophal, ishtaphel, ithpaal, ithpeel,ithpoel,pael,peal,peil, apolel,saphel,shaphel,aphel,haphel,hishtaphel)

    tab two-[VERB] @- [HITS Hebrew Bible Tagged (Leningrad Codex)]

    Here are the results of the search:

    Feel free to double check this search and see if this gets us closer to finding verbs only occurring in 2 stems, like this one for Piel and Niphal stems.
